Whales is skittish about the personal exercise of this kind of power and has gradually worked to wrap it in institutions that involve representative, democratically chosen, groups of Wikipedians in making all important decisions.

[Thatguy.com] That Guy’s Blog: Traditional book publishers argue that the Wikipedia and similar online resources will never replace conventional encyclopedias due to their inherent lack of reliability (since anyone can contribute to the Wikipedia–and thousands do). Yet I find myself using the Wikipedia all the time (its pages tend to place near the top on Google), and I’m usually impressed by the depth and objectivity of its entries.
