Chad(wik)'s Musings...http://chadwik.wordpress.com/2008/03/24/importing-mediawiki-pages-to-apple-wiki-pt2/ [Chad(wik)'s Musings...] I finally narrowed down the tags necessary to reasonably import all of our MediaWiki pages.  There are only two problems that we’ve decided to deal with:

Some related posts from Technorati and Google.

A Consuming Experience (full feed)http://www.consumingexperience.com/2008/03/convert-word-doc-or-webpage-to-wiki.html [A Consuming Experience (full feed)] Convert Word doc or Webpage to wiki: I'd love to hear how people organize there wikis. I think there is great potential for moving all my random notes and documents into a structured wiki format.

Learn Onlinehttp://learnonline.wordpress.com/2008/03/23/the-sophistication-of-a-media-wiki/ [Learn Online] The sophistication of a Media Wiki: I just wish sometimes that I wasn’t in the education sector, that all around me seem to struggle to appreciate the things we see in MediaWiki projects and ideas like these.. but as Brent says, in time - people will find these projects, just like I have, and in time they will gradually prove their worth.

tins ::: Rick Klau's weblog[tins ::: Rick Klau's weblog] Superdelegates wiki, lessons learned: Once the newsbar code (and the php variable) were added to the Mediawiki template (I’ve stuck with the default monobook theme),  every superdelegate page now includes a scrolling ticker of recent news about the superdelegate. Not bad!

mindtouch Blog[mindtouch Blog] Mediawiki to Deki Wiki Converter: Mediawiki sites (for a small fee) we hope to perfect the converter so as to not require a human’s labor to complete a conversion. Also, MindTouch providing the conversion, review, and certification will, of course, benefit the quality of the converter and insure the quality of any conversion.

LGC Metablog[LGC Metablog] Adding a Google calendar to MediaWiki: I’ve been trying to generate a calendar for current events listings by mimicking the setup on Wikipedia but it’s turning out to be way too complex, so I think I will need to opt for an extensions plugin instead. I’ve decided I might as well link in to Google Calendar as there’s an existing plugin for that.

Alan Haarhoff[Alan Haarhoff] MediaWiki - the perfect Intranet solution: This is something we considered, but was ultimately not worth the time and development cost, compared to having a powerfull and feature rich Wiki solution all nicely packaged and ready to use. MediaWiki is really, really powerfull and it makes no sense to re-invent the wheel.

Explosive Squee Insidehttp://go-gentle.livejournal.com/12761.html [Explosive Squee Inside] Return of Wiki Musings: ETA: Come to think of it, MediaWiki's categories are not that different in functionality from LJ's tags. (The hierarchal model is an okay parallel for users who have LJ tags of the type bandom:fic, bandom:meta, bandom:squee, sga:fic, sga:meta, spn:fic, and so forth.) Just tossing that out there as food for thought.

kdedevelopers.org blogshttp://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/3344 [kdedevelopers.org blogs] Update, and some SoC thoughts: Samba, Jabber) or are enablers for many projects (for example: LLVM and gcc compilers, OpenICC, MediaWiki, Subversion, WebKit, and Xiph). Your search of the Main SoC project list will undoubtedly turn up more.

PALINET Discovery Toolshttp://blog.palinet.org/dt/?p=30 [PALINET Discovery Tools] MediaWiki Extensions for PLN: We needed to add one field to the login form, and we needed to allow a group of people to quickly and conveniently approve new accounts for access to restricted materials.  The solution was a system that sends e-mails to a group of approvers when an account is created, and which allows those approvers to send a reply in a format that will result in the MediaWiki user being placed into a user group that has rights to the restricted material.  I was able to use standard Perl modules and smrsh functionality on our Linux server to create the new account approval system.

Cormac's blog[Cormac's blog] Wikiversity and other OER projects: This is something that I would like to get some feedback from Wikimedia/Mediawiki developers - a community who, even though we are all part of the same ”˜meta-community’, I feel we are at arm’s length from in Wikiversity.

Eric Blue's Bloghttp://eric-blue.com/blog/2008/03/document_management_systems.html [Eric Blue's Blog] Document Management Systems (DMS) and Knowledge Management: However, one major area that's lacking in MediaWiki (or most wiki's in general) is document management. I have a huge amount of PDFs, Word docs, and Mind Maps that I need to categorize and have ready access to.
