[Emergence Marketing] I buy the article's conclusion that "In the global race for innovation, it's not as much about leveraging what's inside your factories' machines as what's in your employees' heads", but not the sentence that comes right before that: "That's why fans say the beyond-e-mail workplace will become a key competitive advantage." Let's not forget that successful collaboration is maybe 50% technology and 50% people (individual behavior, company culture, etc.) Even with the best of tools, many companies will never be able to achieve great collaboration, just because of their anti-collaboration policies and cultures.

[Marshall Kirkpatrick] Less E-Mail, More Wiki, Says Business Week: The wiki is a technology I feel we have barely scratched the surface of. We’re getting ready to start using the wiki (we’ve been playing with www.editme.com) as an online help system for our users - both software dewvelopers and users will be able to post information to the system that way, and no installation of help files or ftp’ing to a web-site needed.
[Socialtext.com] Socialtext -- Enterprise Social Software: It's true that "A wiki's functionality is limited only by the programming skills of the person who implements it." But if your team doesn't want to spend time testing numerous email variants for seamless email integration, select a tool where email integration is already part of the product. Similarly, Goodnoe writes that: "After the initial setup, users, not administrators, control a wiki, to the benefit of both." With a convenient hosted service like Socialtext, there's no need for administrative setup.
[Marshallk.com] Marshall Kirkpatrick: Paul Strassmann offers an interesting metric alluding to the ROI of KM (Return on Investment for Knowledge Management) in an article on Baselinemag.com. He argues that the difference between a company’s Financial Value, as determined by its own accountants, and it’s Market Value, as determined by the price its investors are willing to pay for its stock, is of key importance.
[Andylark.blogs.com] Andrew Lark: When recently working on a major site redevelopment a Wiki did so much more for the team in terms of communication - we all edited content in real-time, in the same place, without any confusion in relation to versions. It made a significant task so much more productive.
