[UN Dispatch] I was checking out Ban Ki-moon's Wikipedia entry this morning (like I do every morning) and BAM! It's been hijacked by some pretty desparate Tamils.

[Robert Accettura's Fun With Wordage] The mention of the Acid3 article reminded me that while FF 3.0 was finalized it was said that Acid3 would be supported by the next version of Firefox. This promise was apparently forgotten after the FF 3.0 release as even mozilla-trunk still doesn’t reach 100 more than a year later (mozilla-1.9.1 only reaches 93 here).

Where do I start?: Wonderful Wikis

[Where do I start?] Having looked over several of the sites I found that I was inundated with information overload with so many links to links to links to do with a subject. I found it easy to get lost (thanks goodness for the back button) or else I may have ended up in cyberspace.

Wiki Northeast: Wikimedia Portugal

[Wiki Northeast] We've received notice today that Wikimedia Portugal has posted an English-language translation of their new bylaws on Meta, and have submitted them to Chapcom for initial review. I'll post more information about this as the situation .

Editor's Daily Blog: OpenESB v2.1 M2; Java.net Wikis Reminder

[java.net Weblogs] A text dump snapshot of the entire wiki on Friday afternoon (taken after we turn edit permissions off) will be available via the docs and files section of the java-net project, so there will be no permanent loss of data. If you want to do the wiki conversions yourself after the upgrade, you will be able to access your data there, and then submit your own list of page redirects which will be updated on the server weekly through June 12.

[Wikibooks News] Also, content reuse becomes far easier: Content reusers can use our content under GFDL, *OR* CC-BY-SA, *OR* both, whichever is their preference. Previously, reusers had to use our content under GFDL, which is often incompatible with other websites, which means (a) a complicated content embedding scheme, (b) complicated relicensing which is almost impossible, or (c) can't reuse our content at all.

All users (excluding bots) who have made at least 25 edits to any Wikimedia project prior to March 15, 2009 are welcome to participate in this vote.

[Words on a page] One, they’ve heard too many horror stories about Wikipedia. Two, there’s a stigma among people that wikis are a tool for techies and that the average person can’t get a handle on setting up and using one.

UA2009: Moving documentation into wikis | iMIS Community

[iMIS Community - Collaborative platform for iMIS customers, partners, and developers] SharePoint (aka MOSS) is becoming a platform for portal-based community and collaboration, with its built-in support for fast site development, including custom lists, blogs, wikis, surveys, search, and document version control. He was able to easily publish content from RoboHelp and Captivate directly into SharePoint, and SharePoint's security model was granular enough for him to control who sees what, down to the document and item level.

My Languages: Using Wikis in MFL - Language World 2009

[My Languages] I find his presentation extremely inspiring and I hope it will help me to develop my own MFL Faculty Wiki project further. I particularly liked the practical examples from Alex's presentation as well as the way he shows how a Wiki can complement a VLE rather than undermine it.

OpenVZ - plone vs. mediawiki

[OpenVZ] Although Mediawiki lacks a few features of "the proper CMS" like Plone which I miss, although I prefer Python to PHP, I am still pretty happy using Mediawiki for openvz.org. So I let well enough alone.
