A Serious Oversight

[Pax's Weblog] Vox isn't mentioned in Wikipedia's article about Blogs.  Anyone with a Wikipedia account out there want to set them straight?

Wikipedia Signpost RSS Feed

[danvk.org] The Signpost was sorely lacking an RSS feed, so I’ve put one together at http://feeds.feedburner.com/WikipediaSignpost. The feed should get updated weekly with the Signpost, with only an hour or two delay from publication.

Pro golfer sues over Wikipedia vandalism

[FuzzyOpinions.com] While the invalid statements are no longer listed, Zoeller is seeking damages against the actual person who made the modifications to the popular community based encyclopedia. Seeking compensation for damaged reputation, mental anguish, and loss of Income, Zoeller is seeking out the user of an IP address he claims was tracked as the actual Wikipedia author responsible for the changes.

What is a blog (and blogging)?

http://blog.aaron-ng.info [Hear ye! Hear ye! ”” Comments, opinions and an occasional ramble] To me, blogging is a means to an end. I see blogging as a spontaneous activity where people with imperfect knowledge come together, share their knowledge, discuss and hopefully, everyone walks away with something that they didn’t have to begin with.

From the 11th Floor: Helium.com

[AppScout - The Best and Worst New Software, Sites and Web Applications - Reviews, News and Opinions] That's a lot of explanation—Helium.com already has around 170,000 articles online, so it's up and ready for visitors if you're interested in checking it out for yourself. Speaking for myself, I dig the competitive nature of it, and the fact that Helium is at least trying to compensate writers for the time they're taking to build this site.

DeVotchKa - Till The End Of Time

[A Bowl of Stupid] This is another band I just learned of, my friend having just told me about them, and this particular song, earlier this week. Not yet having any substantive information about the group in our Mossad files, I'm pulling information from elsewhere.

Wars and rumors of civil war?

http://original-research.blogspot.com [Original Research] The current Wikipedia Signpost has an article, "Group of arbitrators makes public statement about IRC", which I recommend everyone not only study but also the articles it links to. Not because of the subject matter itself: I have never participated in IRC because I felt it would be yet another timesink for me, and I have enough of those in my life.

Wikipedia warns PR people off (again)

http://davedonohue.com [davedonohue.com] I’ve noticed a lot of firms rushing in to create and edit entries, as well as a rising backlash against those entries and PR folks in general in Wikipedia discussions. In the interests of the industry’s reputation amongst the Wikipedia community, I hope people will read those comments, and familiarize themselves with how the discussion of PR and conflicts of interest came to be - Constantin Basturea does an excellent job of summarizing this.
