Response to Parkview Sermon Questions

http://friendlyatheist.com [Friendly Atheist] Of course, the purpose of the laws are to address all people and just because non-Christians are in the minority does not mean we should be forced to pay homage to a God we don’t believe in. Christians have every right to say an oath to God in the courtroom, pray in schools, advocate their beliefs, etc.

New Online Bulletin Linking Policy

[Online Bulletin] Back on Monday we reported that Wikipedia changed all of its external links to NOFOLLOW links, and discussed why we thought it was such an awful idea. It seems we were not alone in that opinion, as Andy Beal over at Marketing Pilgrim recently launched a campaign to reduce Wikipedia’s Pagerank to 0.

Microsoft oopsie

[B12 Partners Solipsism] I would be very surprised if Microsoft was not the first to come up with the concept of paying for positive Wikipedia entries (and positive news stories, yadda yadda). We all know Micro$oft's reputation for arriving late to the party, and purchasing themselves a good time with their large juicy mounds of cash.

WikiPedia user page, Oklahoma Digital Centennial project

http://www.speedofcreativity.org [Moving at the Speed of Creativity] After seeing Stephen Klein’s extensive WikiPedia user page (linked from Ethan Zuckerman’s post about OLPC implementation today) I decided to create my own WikiPedia user page. The risk of doing this, I suppose, is that someone could edit my page and put something there I wouldn’t want included.

Wikipedia Adds NoFollow

[SearchGrit - SEO, SEM, and All Things Search] What I do know is that Technorati is still full of spam and they've been using nofollow for many, many months now. Any reduction in spam has come about from active management by the owners of Technorati rather than some automated process of modifying outbound links.

[berkman] MorePerfect

Joho the Blog[Joho the Blog] Timothy Killian and Chad Maglaque are giving a lunchtime talk about MorePerfect.org. They refer to it as "Civics 2.0." In 1787, Tim says, the 55 men invited to the Constitutional Convention did not represent the full diversity of the population. MorePerfect wants to open up the process, taking the opinions of anyone who wants to participate in the democratic process.

WEEKEND UPDATE: Fun with Sean Salisbury’s Wikipedia page!

http://www.wearethepostmen.com [The Postmen | A Sports Blog with a Pop Culture Twist] Attempting to answer a roommate’s inquiry about Sean Salisbury’s recent penile-pixel transgressions, I navigated to Sean’s Wikipedia page, and discovered something so good I simply had to take a screen shot. (Good thing, too, because it was edited literally 30 seconds afterward.) I know, I know: that’s hard to read.

Resistance is Futile

http://amyvandonsel.com/blog [alog] I realize that this topic is old news, but I’ve somewhat resisted the fancy-schmancy chocolate trend because I don’t want to become snobbish and it’s hard to go back. I used to not care about what wine I drank, what coffee I bought, the quality of my Asian food, whether the beer was AB or not, minute rice was fine and now it’s all bismati or the wild rice blend with bla bla bla, and for goodness sake, please let’s don’t talk about cheese.

What are stop words?

http://korokmu.eizil.com [life-logs] Search engines also ignore stop words in meta tags and title tags and domain names. Therefore, don’t put stop words on your meta and title tags because it will waste your bandwidth (but the effect is almost cannot be seen).

Wikipedia Did Not Ban Qatar (Not Exactly)
