Wiki Comparison

SitePoint Blogshttp://www.sitepoint.com/blogs [SitePoint Blogs] Opinion: although it’s a better place to start comparing wiki’s than anything else I’ve seen, to me what’s missing is things like “ease of maintenance”, “performance”, “scales to X pages / hits (link to real site)”, “actively developed / maintained”, “mean time to fix bugs / security issues” etc.

"Swiftboating"

http://fbihop.blogspot.com [FBIHOP] By using credible-sounding sources to make sensational and difficult-to-disprove accusations against the opponent, the campaign leverages media tendencies to give the story far more play than it would otherwise receive. Mostly used as a pejorative, the term has gained currency among liberal writers, while its appropriateness as a description of political debate has been questioned by some conservative commentators.OK, as close to the truth as we'll get.

Wikipedia: Can it be trusted?

http://metaphordummy.blogspot.com [Metaphor, Dummy] The possibilities are endless, and now that this USA Today article has brought the situation to light, expect to see rampant acts of copycat fraudulence in the multilingual Web-based free-content encyclopedia. Some of them will be impossible to detect, leading to a decreased level of credibility for Wikipedia.

Commissioning Editor

[DARnet] last night I had dreadful journey across London with trains disrupted and buses too full to board, forcing me to do what Londoners often do after work in the early evening, spend a couple of hours in the pub before going home. I know, it’s a terrible burden and it meant I couldn’t do any work on the report I’m supposed to be finishing but never mind, there’s a fortnight of imitating the 14 day thesis to look forward to.

E-Mail so five minutes ago? I don't think so...

[Emergence Marketing] I buy the article's conclusion that "In the global race for innovation, it's not as much about leveraging what's inside your factories' machines as what's in your employees' heads", but not the sentence that comes right before that: "That's why fans say the beyond-e-mail workplace will become a key competitive advantage." Let's not forget that successful collaboration is maybe 50% technology and 50% people (individual behavior, company culture, etc.) Even with the best of tools, many companies will never be able to achieve great collaboration, just because of their anti-collaboration policies and cultures.
